Sketchy Taxis, Dead Birds, Empty Wallet, and Naturally.. Death... *Week 15*

For the start of week 15 Misael and I had some work left in town so we headed out to do that. We knew it would take all day and I told Mike that we would for sure be done by 3:45. Mike told us he'd pick us up at 3:45 on the dot, then left ‘Misa’ and I some money for lunch and we got to work. It took forever for the operator of the machine to show up, so we started working without him. When he got to work though, he must have looked at us and decided we didn’t need help because he only stopped by to check the blade then went off to do something else all day. Even though it was just Misa and I, we got about half way through the rest of the pile by lunch. For lunch we went to the same place we had gone to on Saturday but this time they were serving fried shrimp and spaghetti🤤. While eating, Misa and I watched a family of three Americans enter the restaurant, which was really random because we were in a really random part of town. Misa and I had a little fun with it when I asked him w...

A Wisconsible Conversation *Week 14*

This week began with me finding out that Maestro wouldn’t be here until Friday which meant I had another week “off”. However, I already felt rested enough to get back to work, so I asked Eva for the key to the wood shop and went off to finish the shelves that Maestro and I have been working on. While working on the shelves, MamĂ brought over a table she wanted me to sand down and repaint. So I had enough to keep me busy for this week! Since I had finished watching movies with the small girls over the weekend it was time to watch movies with the small boys. So once again four movies in four nights. One of the movies we watched was the Incredibles and in the Incredibles, Mr. Incredible eats a shrimp from a bowl so I asked the boys around me if they had ever had shrimp before and they said they hadn’t. Maybe that’ll be something I cook up for the kids. After the small boys I started watching movies with the Medium boys. I hit the bullseye with the Le...

A Reset *Week 13*

Week 13 started off when I got back to my house from grocery shopping. Upon reaching my front door, I realized I forgot to buy cereal, which was the main reason I went into town in the first place. So I had to go back to town again. On Tuesday I had a chat with Maestro and Chino and asked if they knew a place in town where I could buy MamĂ a new tea cup. They chatted for a while and even drew out a map of town for me. Chino told me that he’d be going into town on Wednesday so I told him maybe I should just go with him instead of going that Tuesday afternoon by myself. The schedule for town was pretty simple. First, Chino needed to go to a bank in town because he would be gone for the rest of the week on vacation. While he did that, I placed an order at Bigos, then went to buy cereal at the Dispensa right next door. Then I went back to Bigos and ate. After a while, Chino joined me and when we were done, we headed back into town to look for Maestro's house. I stopped by Maestros ho...

What I Miss Most About America *Weeks 10, 11, and 12*

Since I feel sorry about the last post being so long, I’ll try to keep this post semi-short. Week nine took me three weeks to write so I am going to go over the past three weeks in this post. For the past three weeks I got to work in PapĂ and MamĂ’s house taking down a wall and then putting it back up since it was infested with termites. This was my first time, in all my years coming, that I got to go inside PapĂ and MamĂ’s house. Anyways, we started by taking all the wood and drywall down, and then we brought up the wood frame we made and the drywall too. Then for final touches, we used caulk to cover up the screw holes and cracks. It was an easy process but it was difficult to carry out since it required us to lift a lot of weight in really awkward positions. We finished the job on Thursday of week 12. Not a lot happened during week 10 except for when I went to town on Saturday. Since Maestro gets his Saturday afternoons off, so do I. I had already decided I was going to town in the ...

Only Real Ones Make it to the Last Paragraph *Week 9*

This week was a very casual, ordinary week. My mom and I got invited to every single team meal, every single day by MamĂ herself. We got to hear PapĂ, MamĂ, and Leshawn’s(the American nurse that lives here) testimonies. Then Saturday my mom left with the team that was here all week. Besides this, nothing else really happened this week. I told myself when I decided to start blogging this journey, that if I ever had a dull week I would write about my past and why I’m here now. So… The story starts about nine years ago when I turned ten. For all five of us kids, my parents offered us a trip to Disney World the summer after our tenth birthday. Alina and Jaden were the only two kids that ‘decided’ not to go to Disney. From that point on, every summer from 11 to 18, we would accompany our mom on her annual mission trip to Orphanage Emmanuel here in Honduras. This meaning that I have been coming down every summer for a month since I was 11 and I’ve gotten to make so many incredible friends an...
