A Reset *Week 13*

Week 13 started off when I got back to my house from grocery shopping. Upon reaching my front door, I realized I forgot to buy cereal, which was the main reason I went into town in the first place. So I had to go back to town again. On Tuesday I had a chat with Maestro and Chino and asked if they knew a place in town where I could buy MamĂ a new tea cup. They chatted for a while and even drew out a map of town for me. Chino told me that he’d be going into town on Wednesday so I told him maybe I should just go with him instead of going that Tuesday afternoon by myself. The schedule for town was pretty simple. First, Chino needed to go to a bank in town because he would be gone for the rest of the week on vacation. While he did that, I placed an order at Bigos, then went to buy cereal at the Dispensa right next door. Then I went back to Bigos and ate. After a while, Chino joined me and when we were done, we headed back into town to look for Maestro's house. I stopped by Maestros house one time in the past and I know exactly what it looks like, but I don’t exactly know where it is. It was Maestro’s birthday that day(May 1st) and he told me previously that he had never had an egg smashed on his head in his entire life. I was so ready to be the first to do it but I couldn’t find his house and ended up giving up and going back to the orphanage.

Maestro wasn’t at the orphanage for half the week so I took it as time to rest. It was very refreshing to have some time away from work but after two days of resting I was fully refreshed and ready to spend a lot of time with the kids again. I called Eva(the office boss) and asked her if I could watch a movie with the small girls today and she told me that it’d be totally alright. So I made my way over and plugged in the flash drive, but it didn’t work. The small girls had so many problems with their TV I just can’t even explain it. After calling my dad(big IT guy) three whole times, I eventually… still couldn’t figure it out. So what I did was I took my chromebook over to the house along with the speaker that Jaden sent with my mom, and plugged everything in. It worked out surprisingly well for a small screen and a mediocre speaker. It was such a fun time and on Saturday, we watched two more of the four movies I bought while the girls “did” my hair. They gave me two small pigtails and a bun in the back, I didn’t know my hair was that long already😭. On Sunday, the small girls and I watched ‘Elementals’ with chips and soda. Next week I plan to watch movies with the small boys and then the medium boys after.

Some miscellaneous events from this week include: finalizing my hotel and flights to and from CancĂșn and also changing my return flight to the states. I also had a conversation with MamĂ about what housing would look like when I came back. Obviously the female volunteers that are coming down are going to get the female volunteer house(the house I am currently staying in) and I was told previously that I would probably be placed in a room in the new hotel when I got back from CancĂșn. However, MamĂ told me that the new hotel wouldn’t be finished by the time I came back, so she said that John and I will be sharing the other side of the duplex that Danielle and Chino live in. This worked out perfectly because while I was preparing for this trip back in February, I was convinced they’d put me in that house, but they didn’t.

Week by week, we’re getting closer to going to CancĂșn, but even better, coming back with friends of mine. I am so excited and can't wait for the memories that will be made. To be continued…
